Job Summary
Information Technology Services (ITS) is dedicated to a constructive, team-orientated environment, gathering varied perspectives, sharing knowledge, and building effective partnerships that enable our partners to achieve their goals by advising, providing solutions, and delivering service excellence in alignment with the University’s mission and goals. Reporting to the Director, Systems Operations, the Manager plays a crucial role in designing and implementing robust, scalable, and secure systems and storage solutions. This position manages and mentors a team of systems and storage administrators responsible for implementation and reliable operation of core infrastructure systems.
Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the design and architecture of complex, enterprise-level systems and storage that align with strategic plans and standards.
  • Oversee the implementation and operation of systems and storage solutions, ensuring optimal performance, availability, reliability, and security.
  • Evaluate and recommend storage technologies, staying abreast of industry trends and advancements.
  • Provide leadership and supervision of the systems operations team. Establish priorities and collaborate with technical team leads.
  • Lead the troubleshooting and resolution of complex technical issues, coordinating with relevant teams and vendors.
  • Conduct post-incident reviews and implement preventive measures to minimize future occurrences.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Computing Science or other information technology related field with five to seven years’ experience in system and storage architecture and operations (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Supervisory or management experience in a large and complex environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain strong working relationships, to engage and influence stakeholders.
  • Good understanding of relevant legislative and compliance requirements.
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication skills.
Assets
- Experience with Dell/EMC Servers and Storage with VMWare virtualization, RedHat Enterprise Linux and Satellite, Ansible, Solaris, Puppet, C, PERL, PHP, MySQL, PostgresSQL, Nagios, Commvault Simpana, BIND DNS, SecurID 
- Deep understanding of networking protocols
