Job Summary
The Faculty of Agriculture, Dalhousie University is a small research-intensive campus located in Truro, NS. Offering technical, undergraduate and graduate programs in agriculture, environment and related life and social science disciplines. The Faculty of Agriculture educates future leaders and generates knowledge and innovative solutions for healthy, sustainable societies. Reporting to the Manager, Academic Administration, the Manager, Community Education will play a key role in expanding the understanding of agriculture, developing and implementing programs to highlight the scope of programming and research available in the Faculty of Agriculture.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the delivery of agricultural education programming, including identifying schools and community partners, participating in government outreach activities, recruiting faculty presenters, and delivering programming.
  • Explore, develop and implement community outreach plans and community education programming by engaging with educators, students, and community members.
  • Working with faculty and local educators, develop and deliver agriculture-centred curriculum for secondary school courses, including packets and modules for agricultural programming.
  • Work with student leadership programs to identify student ambassadors to assist with program promotion. Collaborate with faculty and staff to publicize and connect them with outreach opportunities.
  • Plan and implement professional development programs for regional educators.

Note
Periodic travel will be required throughout the Atlantic provinces.

Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.
Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in Science (Agriculture) plus approximately three years’ experience in developing curriculum and/or delivering educational programs (or an equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Strong and current knowledge of the agricultural field.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under tight timelines and independently on a variety of projects.
  • Valid Nova Scotia drivers license.

Assets
  • Bachelor of Education or Masters degree in a relevant field.
