Job Summary
The Division of Animal Care (DAC) provides professional services and oversight for the Faculty of Medicine’s Animal Care facilities. Reporting to the Director, DAC, the Administrator will carry out the day-to-day administration of the division in a variety of areas including finances, human resources, data, and policies and procedure development and implementation.
Key Responsibilities
  • Manage the financial resources of the division. Draft budgets; make recommendations regarding resource allocation; monitor operating and special accounts including identifying, analyzing and investigating budget variances.
  • Administer all cost recovery components of the division budget including a high volume of monthly billing and charge transactions. Calculate and price all orders. Resolve and reconcile discrepancies. Prepare cost estimates for users. Train staff on division databases used for cost recovery activities.
  • Manage human resources activities on behalf of the division. Directly supervise the division’s administrative staff.
  • Assess, grant and cancel the appropriate level of access to the division’s secure physical spaces. Oversee all administrative duties associated with the division’s access security system.
  • Serve as a resource to the director, managers and staff of the division regarding policies and procedures. This includes reviewing division administrative policies and procedures and making recommendations regarding updates and adjustments such as for user rates and fees.
Note
Due to operational requirements, the successful applicant is required to work in-person on campus.

Required Qualifications
  • Undergraduate degree in business or other relevant field plus approximately five years’ relevant experience (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
  • Strong financial and personnel management skills and experience.
  • Effective interpersonal and communication (verbal and written) skills.
  • High level of computer proficiency, particularly with database management.
  • Strong ability to problem solve and anticipate issues with excellent analytical and organizational skills.
Assets
  • Experience in a university and/or animal research facility.
